LMS Back-to-School FAQ
📅 First Day of School
Q: When is the first day of school?
A: Thursday, September 4, 2025.
Q: What is the schedule that day?
A: Single Session day with dismissal at 12:51 PM.
Q: Where should my child report at 8:17 AM?
5th Grade: Christie Heights Courtyard (Christie Heights St.)
6th Grade: Broad Avenue Courtyard (front of school)
7th Grade: Rotunda Courtyard (north side, near bus drop-off)
8th Grade: Gymnasium
Teachers will meet students by last name/room number and escort them inside.
🚗 Auto Drop Off & Traffic Rules
Q: Where is the Auto Drop Off Zone?
A: Christie Heights Street (adjacent to Christie Heights Courtyard).
Traffic Pattern:
Christie Heights St. becomes ONE WAY eastbound from Hillcrest to Broad Ave.
Enter only from Hillcrest or Grand Ave. (NOT from Broad Ave).
Pull up to the end of the Drop Off Zone, and the child exits on the driver's side.
Drop & Go—no parking.
Exit onto Broad Ave. (right turn only).
Important Notes:
Kingsley Street is closed during drop-off/pick-up.
No double-parking on Broad Ave (ticketed by Leonia PD).
Always follow police directions.
🏫 First Day Extended Homeroom
Q: What happens during extended homeroom?
Locker assignments and practice with school-issued locks.
Review of LMS Core Values: Respect, Integrity, Community, Perseverance, Responsibility.
Review of cell phone policy.
Reminder: Students may only use school-issued locks. No personal locks.
🥪 Lunch
Q: Will lunch be served on the first day?
A: Yes. Students may bring their own lunch or purchase from Maschio’s.
Parents can view lunch balances in Genesis Parent Portal.
💻 Chromebooks
Q: What should students bring?
5th, 6th, 8th graders: Bring district-issued Chromebook & charger.
7th graders: Receive new Chromebook & charger in homeroom.
Reminder: Charge devices nightly. Personal devices are not permitted.
📱 Student Cell Phones
Q: Can students bring cell phones?
A: Yes, but:
Phones must be turned off & stored in lockers/cubbies all day (including lunch/recess).
Use is only permitted after dismissal.

If contact is needed:
Parents call the Main Office.
Students may use Main Office phones if needed.
Nurse will call home if a student is ill.
🏃♂️ Physical Education & Locker Rooms
Grades 5–6: Do not use locker rooms. Arrive ready for PE.
Grades 7–8: Use locker rooms to secure belongings/change into PE clothes (optional).
May also come to school dressed for PE.
PE teachers will review locker use and clothing expectations.
🔒 Lockers
Issued to grades 6–8.
Students may access lockers before homeroom, during lunch, and after school.
Keep combinations private; do not share lockers.
🎒 Backpacks
Use traditional shoulder-strap backpacks (no rolling/wheeled bags).
Backpacks may not go to the cafeteria—must be stored in lockers/cubbies during lunch.
🎶 Clubs & Activities
Club informational meetings will be held in September.
